I also dislike being in a position in which I feel I am manipulating another for selfish ends. I also like asking people questions. Sometimes I seem to have the right questions, at other times I'm all thumbs or don't seem to have the right experience to ask questions that target what is important to people.

Jill, you present an ideal that seems to resonate with morally sound principles like "love your neighbor as yourself" and "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Somehow I think that's the way sales and "closings" should be.

P.S. Being old can be a compliment in many cultures. In the US, the really old people live in Miami. Their parents live in Sarasota--or so I've heard.

Thanks for your nice comments. About questions: I suggest you plan them prior to a sales call. It's impossible to come up with good ones when you're trying to listen to people. Literally the brain is incapable of doing both those things simultaneously.
