Wendy Weiss

Wendy Weiss, The Queen of Cold Calling, is a sales trainer, sales coach and author. She helps entrepreneurs, business owners and sales professionals gain confidence, reach more prospects, close more sales and make more money. She started her business almost 20 years ago, representing clients on the telephone and setting new business appointments. While Wendy no longer “dials for dollars” (except for her own business), all of her workshops, seminars, products and individual sales coaching are based on practical, real-life, hands-on experience.

Wendy has trained thousands of sales professionals and entrepreneurs in the techniques that she developed. Clients include Avon Products Inc., ADP Inc., Sprint, Newmark Real Estate and thousands of entrepreneurs throughout the country.

She has been featured in BusinessWeek, Entrepreneur Magazine, Selling Power, Target Marketing and various other business and sales publications. Her e-mail newsletter, Opening Doors & Closing Sales has an international readership and her columns are syndicated to 255 different print and Internet publications.

Wendy is the author of the self-study programs, Cold Calling College and The Miracle Appointment-Setting Script. She is also the author of the book, Cold Calling for Women: Opening Doors & Closing Sales.

An Alternate Identity
After losing many friends to AIDS, and then also recognizing the need for AIDS education targeted to youth, in 1991, Wendy founded Illusion Productions, a dance company of young people teaching young people about AIDS. From 1991 to 1997, this unique program, designed to reach at-risk youth, performed throughout New York City at high schools, community centers and after-school programs. To our knowledge, it was the only Dance Company in the world that provided peer-to-peer AIDS education.

Wendy is a former ballet dancer who performed with Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. (She was also “Mopsy” in the Kennedy Center’s Imagination Celebration production of The Tale of Peter Rabbit!) Wendy believes that everything that she knows in life, she learned in ballet class! She got into her current field, sales training, by accident—she needed a “day job.” But the results have been happy, and she has no regrets. Wendy had stopped dancing for many years because of arthritis, but after a total hip replacement in 1996, she is once again taking dance class.

Wendy lives in New York City with her cats, Mama Cat and Mr. Mitz.

Quote of the day

A leader is most successful when people barely know he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, his troops will feel they did it themselves.
